Actively adding members to your group or subscriber list is one of the most effective marketing tools in Second Life. However one of the dilemmas with group and list invitations is choosing the best way to do it. Automatic invites generate more signups than touch signs, but inviting visitors the second they arrive is not always logical or productive. Especially on their first visit, they may not yet know if they want to subscribe or join, so an invitation on landing is less likely to be accepted, and at times may be considered annoying.

The ArtiZan Smart Inviter provides the solution to this problem - to increase list/group signup rate by extending an invitation to all visitors, but doing it in a way it is most likely to be effective, and minimise the risk of unwanted or repeated invitations.

-2- HOW IT WORKS

Smart Inviter works as both a mail list subscriber signup and/or group inviter - customise to suit your needs:
• mail list invites can be offered to visitors and signup names recorded to a list, or
• group invites can be offered using
- a chat link message (open join group only), or
- by direct bot invite via SmartBots (requires SmartBots subscription).

On arrival, visitors' names are detected by the Smart Inviter. After a time delay that you choose, they will be invited to subscribe or join the group. You can set the time delay for whichever time suits your premises - the minimum time an interested visitor is likely to stay. Avatars who have left the sim will not be offered an invitation. Once a visitor has been invited, their name is saved to the anti-spam history list, and they will not be invited again until you reset the list, or another 6000 people pass through (it keeps the most recent 6000).

Smart Inviter works on slow rate, low impact sensor - it scans an area at regular intervals and detects any avatars in range. (There are two ways to automatically detect avatars, 'sensor', or scanning, and 'collision', which works by detecting when people connect with an object, eg a visitor mat.)

Smart Inviter is designed to work in addition to your visitor greeter device and touch to join subscriber signs, not replace them. You still use your greeter to welcome people immediately on arrival, give out any important information, and record visitor names and/or numbers. The Smart Inviter offers its invitations after a time, and then visitors can still click on the subscriber signs in store to join the list or group, or unsubscribe.

Smart Inviter is designed to seamlessly integrate with SmartBots for group invitations.

• If you have an active SmartBots account, group invites will be issued by your bot. Otherwise group invites will be done the manual way using a chat link to the group profile (requires open group enrolment). SL scripts by themselves cannot do the blue popup direct group invites - this requires a bot.
