This hand-colored etching by Abraham Munting presented in a gesso frame painted black with a gold cartouche in the 17th-century Italian tradition. The 17th-century in Holland was a golden age of gardening and botanical illustration. Munting illustrated the plants within 'Groningen's Paradise,' a garden owned by the Academy of Groningen.
