What is an axiometer? Here's what Blackrod's Cerebrula has to say on the matter: "...an axiometer is a device ostensibly capable of sensing the impending confluence of two individuals' key emotional states or preferences, thus affirming (or dissuading) judgement leading to critical actions or decisions..." In other words, it may help you do or say the right thing to someone you know or want to know better, at the right time.
As usual, there is no irrefutable proof it works. Like the I Ching, perhaps the mere act of clearing your mind as you spend time observing a transient manifestation leads to the right decision crystallising all by itself. One thing is certain: watching and interpreting the axiometer swing and spin to your contemplations is a nicer and more productive way to await someone's arrival in-world than merely waiting for their name to pop up in chat.
To offer you the widest choice of application, different types of axiometer are included in this retail box:
- Axiometer (static) - to be rezzed and positioned anywhere you like. As it comes with a chain and clip fastener it seems a good idea to suspend the axiometer from a suitable object. But it's up to you.
- Axiometer (touch to swing) - same as above, but with the addition of a gentle swing animation that can be started and stopped by touching the axiometer's case. (2 types included in box)
- Axiometer (worn) - this static version is made to be worn on your belt etc. By default it's set to attach to your pelvis.
All provided axiometers also feature a subtle online status indicator to monitor an avatar of your choice.
Lovingly crafted and textured to a high finish, the axiometer is designed to tip its hat at the original instrument. The scripts employed are low lag, and despite six animated components the total prim count (land impact) is a relatively modest 10 prims (11 prims for the swing-enabled versions). Permissions are mod & copy, so chain and clip could be removed if required. Full instructions for use are also included.
