Sikorsky CH-54A Tarhe (Skycrane)
The CH-54 was built to be a heavy haul helicopter platform for the United states armed forces. It was not designed to be pretty and easy to maintain. Its built upon the Open to view design meaning that all the major parts (ie. Twin Turbo Shaft, Drive train, Hydraulics, ect) Where left exposed and easy to get to when the aircraft needed servicing. The aircraft proved to be very versatile in its roles from salvaging downed helicopters and such to hauling Heavy artillery pieces. The airframe proved to be so versatile it was eventual sold to civilian contracts for logging, building,firefighting, and many more roles.
