With the release of mesh live on SL why choose a sculpted prim object? Simple because sculpties ARE mesh as is everything in SL. Sculpties have an advantage right now over an arbitrary mesh in that everyone CAN see a sculpted prim without having to switch to a viewer they may not prefer to use. Only those using the LL official viewer 3 and Kirsten's viewer (as of 9/2/11) can see mesh objects. I love mesh as much as anyone but the fact that LL chose to make it not viewable by 1.X viewers is nothing but a ploy to try and force people to adopt viewer 2 based viewers.

The sculpt maps provided are alpha layer protected. What does this mean? The short answer is the sculpt maps are hidden behind a transparent layer and will look to be totally clear textures but they work just like regular sculpt maps without alpha protection. This means if you leave your creation mod the buyer can't edit the linked parts and "lift" the sculpt maps with a screen capture to steal them and possible recreate your product.
Shadow Maps - these are solid shadow map as commonly seen with sculpted prim, use this to help create your own textures by placing it as a layer over your texture and setting its blend mode to Multiply.
