Ballinger's Domus Urbanum has been created for the small landowner.

As is typical of the urban domus, there are no windows facing the street. Entering the front door and passing through the Vestibulum, you arrive at the Atrium, with its conpluvium and impluvium, from which the family would get its water supply. Flanking this are two large Reception Rooms that, with the Atrium, create a huge entertaining space. Directly ahead is the Tablinium or owner's office. Also off the Atrium are two Cubicula for sleeping. Two hallways lead to two more rooms for Dining or Sleeping. These two rooms and the Tablinium all open onto the Hortis, or Garden, which has privacy walls at the side and a balustrade on the outside edge to allow for the view and access to water, if you have waterfront property.
