This is a small (9.5m x 4.3m) ancient Egyptian shrine to the goddess Bastet the goddess of cats.
Bastet was also a goddess of pregnancy and childbirth, possibly because of the fertility of the domestic cat. She was the daughter of Ra and Isis, and the consort of Ptah, the god of wisdom and knowledge.
