Stunning bust of Madame Victoire made at manufacture royale de Sèvres in biscuit porcelain. It was made in 1763 by the French sculptor Louis-Claude Vasse. The bust sits on a half-column porcelain pedestal, painted in recognizable Sèvres "Bleu du Roi" color.
Madame Victoire de France (1733 - 1799) was a French princess, the seventh child and fifth daughter of King Louis XV of France and Queen Maria Leszczyńska. Originally known as Madame Quatrième, signifying the fourth daughter of the King, she was later known as Madame Victoire. The sisters were collectively known as Mesdames. Madame Victoire was also allegedly the favorite aunt of king Louis XVI.
