Animating textures allows us, from creating the illusion of a prim rotating, to play a cell animation in one side for one of our prims. There's only one function controlling all the possibilities, and depending on the choice, the parameters mean one thing or another.

For a better understanding for its behaviour, I've developed a simple HUD object to use along with the studying for this book: the object “llSetTextureAnim Helper HUD (wear)” that you'll find in your supplies folder. Make a copy before wearing it the first time.

We'll cover in this book all of the following:

TABLE OF CONTENTS

Working with our helping HUD
Declaration for llSetTextureAnim
Cell Animation with llSetTextureAnim
How do I create a texture to be used in cell animation?
I. If you have an animated GIF...
II. If you use GIMP/PS...
Complementary Notes
Repeats per face, sizex, sizey and unexpected behaviours
We can have only one (persistent) texture animation running on a prim
Side Numbering
Final Note: llSetLinkTextureAnim

This class is in book format, a wearable HUD with all the information, tips and graphics.

NOTE: The HUDs themselves are no modify/no transfer

With this HUD book and the accompanying texture animation HUD, the texture animation function has now no secrets.

The HUD is a great help because it is easy and intuitive to handle, and it directly generates the LSL code. You can design the effect you want in the HUD and then try it in the prim, which is very useful.
