Strokker, the geyser at Geysir in Iceland. It was here that Europeans discovered the first known geyser which gave its name to all of the others in the world. However they wanted to make it more spectacular by throwing turf and other things down it which stopped it. Geysir will only blow now in times of large geological activity, however in more recent years, Strokkur has started to blow and does so on every 1 to 12 minutes. Here I have caught the moment as the water begins to rush out of Strokkur, before the bubbles burst and it gets that fountain like appearence. The volcano Hekla can be seen in the background with its seasonal covering of snow.
