=Much of the festivities of Dia De Los Muertos are remembering family and friends that have passed on. Pictures, familiar items, clothes, or anything that belonged to the deceased is often placed on the altar/shrine to help them find their way back home.

=Marigolds have a strong scent and are believed to help the passed on find their way to the shrines and altars set up for them. Often a path of their petals are placed leading up to the altar.

=This is a special bread baked for Dia De Los Muertos, it is a loaf with designs of bones laid upon it to represent the deceased and a single tear on top to represent sorrow. Food is often placed upon the altars to represent the element of Earth and offer a meal to the spirits who come to visit.
