Despite the highly adaptable and comfortable accommodations of the UEF Beagle-2, during our long journey of discovery and scientific research, we often long for the culture of our distant home planet. It was a pleasant surprise when our Chief Cultural Affairs Officer, Sakura Miku, introduced us to a new set during our last communal dinner, fresh out of the auto assembler. This set beautifully blended the traditional aspects of Japanese tea sets with the necessities of our high-tech endeavors.

The set even included a whimsical tea whisk (a chasen, as Miku-san graciously informed us) with retractable bristles, a magnetic coil heater for the tea kettle, and other wonderful elements reminiscent of distant Earth. It was now evident why Officer Sakura had insisted we include Camellia sinensis in our craft’s Hydroponics/Vivarium.

There were no complaints from the crew or the science team as the aroma of freshly brewed matcha filled the mess room.
