Daggers were backup weapons used primarily used for close-quarters stabbing, much like short swords and seaxes. Thy were more effective against chainmail than longswords since they were short and concentrated the full power of the thrust in the tip of the dagger, which could split the rings used in chainmail in a manner somewhat similar to an axe splitting wood.
This particular dagger was blackened to allow its use by stealthy combatants, as the blackened blade would not reflect light so readily as would the blade of a more typical dagger. This dagger appears to have seen some use, however, as the paint is partially worn off in a number of places.
(I had originally intended to release this dagger with animations and scripting; however, I grew frustrated with my not getting it finished and decided to release it as a full permissions creator's kit instead.
I realize that there is an odd-looking seam down either side of the handle: that seam is on the original dagger which I used as a model. In the interests of getting this dagger posted (and retain my sanity!) I do not intend to go back to try to "fix" that seam yet again.)

Please do not re-sell this dagger or any of the included textures as full permissions. Mod/Trans or Mod/Copy are fine. Do not sell this dagger as-is: either script it and release it with the original textures, or re-texture it and sell it (or both.)
