Overview and features

Thank you for choosing the CG Facelight. This project was created initially to solve a common complaint with facelight systems in that they can cause problems with builds that use extensive local lighting. Beyond implementing functionality to solve this issue, additional features have also been included, such as:

Land-owner object to suspend CG Facelight activity in the area
Configuration settings for:
* Number of lights (from 1 to 3)
* Light color
* Intensity
* Radius.
* Suspender override
Optional HUD to access settings and quickly turn on/off facelight
Command “AO-like” quick interface to commands and options

Usage
--------

CG Facelight – The main attachment, this is used to shine lights on an avatar. An avatar uses a facelight primarily to reduce the shadows from global light sources (i.e. the sun). The CG Facelight attaches by default to an avatar’s chin by right clicking the object in your inventory and choosing “Wear”. You may also attach the CG Facelight to other locations on your avatar’s face; although you may need to edit the lights reposition them in this case. You can control CG Facelight options using the optional HUD or with chat commands (more info below.)

CG Facelight HUD – This is a Heads-Up Display (HUD) for controlling the CG Facelight. By default, the CG Facelight HUD attaches to the top-left HUD position. If this space is used, you may also attach it to other HUD locations. You must wear the CG Facelight before using HUD functions. By clicking the bulb icon, you can turn on and off the Facelight, while clicking the gears icon displays the configuration menu. The CG Facelight HUD is not necessary for the CG Facelight to function, it can also be detached after configuration if desired.

CG Facelight HUD Controls:

The CG Facelight HUD has two main buttons. The top button that has an icon of a light bulb displays the current light state and provides a quick way to turn on or off the CG Facelight by clicking the bulb. In addition, a lock icon appears on the light bulb button when the Facelight is in an area that contains an active CG Facelight Suspender.

The lower button (with a picture of three gears) configures settings on the Facelight. Click the button to bring up a menu of options. The main menu categories include:

*Override – controls whether your facelight can be suspended (default Off)
*Color – Set the facelight color (default White)
*Radius – Set the area of affect for the facelight (default Normal)
*Lights – Pick which facelight lamps are lit (default Front as of 4.1)
*Brightness – Sets how strong the light is within the radius (default Normal)
*Help – Gives a copy of this manual

CG Facelight Chat Controls:

In addition to the HUD, a user can use text chat on either the default chat channel or to channel 1 to control the CG Facelight. The user does not have to have a CG Facelight HUD attached in order to use these commands. All commands are prefixed with “facelight” (or “fl”) and the command name. Possible commands are listed below. As an example, typing: “/1 fl on” (without quotes) will turn the facelight on, using channel 1 so the command is not displayed to other nearby avatars.

fl on – turns on the facelight
fl off – turns off the facelight
fl front – only use the front lamp
fl sides – use the two side lamps
fl all – use all three lamps
fl menu – displays the configuration menu (with or without the HUD attached)
fl override [off|on] – Choose whether to override the HUD
fl brightness [dim|normal|bright|blinding] – Set how bright the lights shine
fl radius [tiny|normal|big|huge] – Sets the distance from your avatar that the lights shine
fl color [white|red|blue|orange|pink|yellow|brown|green|purple] – Changes the color of the light source
