CMcA Faucet, Mesh
by Camden McAndrews
No home is complete without a kitchen, and no kitchen is complete without a sink and faucet! I couldn't find one that I really like, so here's a mesh version of the faucet I'm using in my own kitchens.
This faucet is a full-permissions item for builders, sold for your personal use or to be sold as part of a larger build. It's a single 100% mesh item.
Includes my script for water flow particles, as shown in the Marketplace picture. Touch any part of the faucet to turn the water on or off.
Land Impact is actually about 1.2. If you link it to a sink that has a LI of about 0.5, the two linked items will still total to LI = 2.0. (I was able to squeeze in the water prim shown in the pictures without increasing land impact.)
It has a bounding box and the mesh is inverted so that you won't need to use a separate particle emitter prim to add water flow. The center of the object is right at the center of the aerator, and particles come out in the correct direction using PSYS_SRC_PATTERN_ANGLE_CONE.
I've shown the faucet with brass and anodized steel textures, but of course you can texture it to match your own style.
All the parts of the faucet take a texture quite nicely. There are 7 faces numbered 0 through 6: 5 texturable faces and 1 face (the bounding box) that you'll want to leave invisible. The faces are shown in one of the Marketplace illustrations. The colors in parentheses note which color shows in the reference illustration.
0. Bounding Box, only the outside (top and bottom) faces.
(Textured with "*Default Transparent Texture" right out of the Library.
In Edit mode, You'll see planes above and below the faucet assembly; that's
the bounding box.)
1. (Red) Main faucet pipe, transition joint, and aerator
(You should find that the texture stretch is consistent for all 4 elements.)
2. (Green) Rounded closeouts
3. (Light Blue) Top of the base closeout
4. (Magenta) Valve shafts
5. (Dark Blue) Base closeout
6. (Orange) Knobs
User License: You may resell this faucet and particle script as part of your larger builds. Permissions must be set to either no-transfer or no-copy (or both). You may not sell or give away the faucet or script as is, as a single item, or with both copy and transfer permissions.
More notes that might be useful to builders:
In the illustrations, Cammy is on a poseball doing the "Hand Wash" animation by Sylva Petrov. She is 2.04 SL meters (6' 8"), as shown in the pictures, with tennis shoes, as measured in Singularity appearance mode.
My kitchen cabinets are 1.25 wide x 0.8750 deep x 1.22 high. Height is measured from the floor to the top surface of the counter.
When you texture your faucet, check top and bottom angles to make sure that you didn't accidentally put a texture on the bounding box faces. Those faces really want to be invisible.
The sink shown in the illustrations was originally a sculpt by BillFox Devin. I just converted it to a mesh object, so I can't distribute it with full permissions.
If you visit my in-world store, you might see nearly identical faucets in the the kitchen and bathroom. Unless there's a note to telling you otherwise, those are probably sculpted versions of this same design. The sculpts look nice and end up with the same land impact, but I can't do nearly as much with textures. I used sculpts in those items because (as of this writing) my kitchens and bathrooms are all sculpted.
I do hope you enjoy this faucet. Thanks so much for buying my stuff!
Wishing you all this best in this and every life,
Camden McAndrews
