Charity Tipjar System — Shared Donations for Second Life Venues

This system provides a reliable and synchronized way to collect and display donations across an entire region. One Tip Server manages all connected tip jars, ensuring that every donation automatically updates the total amount shown on every jar in the SIM. Each jar thanks the donor locally and contributes instantly to the shared total, creating a unified and transparent donation experience.

The hover text displayed above each jar can be fully customized through the server, allowing owners to adapt the message for events, causes, or themed venues. All jars update automatically whenever the text or total changes, even if they are rezzed later.

The Tip Server stores all received donations, including the donor’s name, the amount, and the date, and offers several owner-only options via an in-world dialog:
• Print – Lists all recorded donations with their details.
• Cast – Sends the current total to all jars, useful for synchronizing newly placed jars.
• Text – Lets the owner set a new hover text for all jars through a simple textbox.
• Clear – Resets all stored donations and the total after confirmation.

Only one Tip Server is required per region, but any number of tip jars can be placed and linked to it. All jars contribute to the same total, offering a simple, elegant, and coordinated donation system for clubs, galleries, charity events, and community spaces.
