Play checkers against the computer.
Checkers, Draughts, dammen, Dame, Dames
This is the first fully-fledged checkers game board in SL. It knows all rules, prevents illegal moves, enforces the order of the moves between the opponents, gives hints on attempts to make an illegal move and lets you play against the computer at a high level of artificial intelligence.
Quick start guide:
Click the board and the select the type of game you want to play. (vs avatar, vs. computer, computer vs. computer)
First select the piece to be moved then click an empty field to move the piece to.
1.) Rules
The rules follow the "English draughts", which are
- 8x8 grid
- uncrowned pieces move and jump diagonally forward only
- crowned pieces move and jump also diagonally backwards
- jumps are mandatory
- multiple jumps are possible
- the game ends when the opponent has lost all pieces or has no legal move left
2) The board enforces the rules as well as the order of the players and doesn't allow to make illegal moves. Attempts to make illegal moves are announced.
3) There are following options:
- play against an ava mate (menu option: vs ava). The ava who grabbed the menu begins the game with black. The opponent is the ava who first starts to move a white piece. The player who lost the game will start first in the next one.
- play against the computer (menu option: vs comp). The opponent is replaced by the computer that will make appropriate moves. The algorithm is at an advanced level, so expect a tough game.
- Watch the computer play against itself (menu option: comp-comp). For your entertainment and the entertainment of your friends and for learning purposes of the strategy and tactic of the checkers. Again, black starts and in the subsequent matches the loosing party starts first.
4.) Some other features:
- Crowned pieces change height and are marked with a crown on the top face for easier identification.
- After each game the ava who grabbed the menu will be asked to continue with another game or to quit.
- The board will time out and reset when it is left with no response for 2 mins. This applies for the games with minimum one ava player. No time out applies when the computer plays against himself.
- In order to reset a running match or in case of any problems, press either one of the side faces or the bottom face of the board. It will reset the board immediately.
- The response time of the computer to make a move is in the order of a few seconds, but depends on the overall sim usage.
Have fun.

Good game
Works well, I bought a couple checkers games about 4 years ago from Lamorna Proctor, They worked well until recently and I can not get in touch with her anymore.
Bright
The board is so bright it hurts your eyes to play. I tried to turn down brightness but that option was not available. I purchased the backgammon and love it, but this will just go to waste in my inventory.
This is great! Now we can have checkers tournaments and rez as many boards as needed. Seller gave a quick response, I highly recommend this product! You can play against the computer, another player, or even 2 computer players. It seems the forced jump rule is in effect. The AI is tough, it beat me :-)
