Detailed Description:
This is a common butternut version of all the various regulation uniforms of enlisted men who served in the Confederate Armies during the American Civil War. This would be appropriate for the ranks of Private, Corporal, and Sergeant. This would be worn in most activities, including daily service and battle. This is perfectly acceptable at most role-play Second Life activities.
Unlike the strict regulations set forth amongst today’s military, uniforms during this period were widely varied. This was especially true with Confederate uniforms - there was a great deal of variety depending upon the type of unit, the state or even region they came from, the year they entered service, or the whim of the commanding officer. Units such as zouaves, various militia and cadet groups, and other specialized units are examples.
Forage Cap: (Attaches to head) This is modelled after the M1861 features the round sloping (crescent shaped) leather brim, made popular by General McDowell, often called the "bummer's cap." This beautiful cover is fully primed and shaped per historical standards. Accurately shows the band, buttons and brim. It can be modified or personalized as the owner wishes.
Shell Jacket: This 7 button early war shell jacket reflects the "militia influence" of a romantic war. It was worn at most functions (always wear with shirt so that it does not fit tight on your avatar). There are 9 versions denoting rank and branch of service. The stripes indicate rank as follows: No chevrons: Private; Two chevrons: Corporal; Three chevrons: Sergeant. The color of the strips indicate branch of service: Blue: Infantry; Gold: Cavalry; Red: Artillary.
Belt: This prim leather belt comes with the standard issue oval brass buckle stamped "CS" and is modifiable so you may fit as desired or change the belt buckle.
Shirt: This 3-button front shirt with gusseted sleeves is worn under the sack coat. It is baggy and loose as per the style of the period. Shown with braces (suspenders).
Trousers: Per period, they are loose and sit high on the waist and include the split back and all buttons.
