The color changing HUD is incredibly easy to use, and powerful enough to let your customers select any color for any side of any prim, and even select different colors for each side of multi-sided prims.

The HUD itself is copy/mod/transfer so that you can package it freely with any of your creations.

The script is copy/transfer, so that you can load it into any prims that you want your customer to be able to recolor (see terms of service below)

For Creators:
-------------------------------------------------------------
TOS: By including the Color Change by HUD script with your products, you agree to the Terms of Service:
**The permissions on the Color Change by HUD script itself must be set to NO COPY and/or NO TRANSFER**

1. Drop the "Color Change by HUD" script into each prim that you want your end-user to be able to re-color.

2. Include a copy of the Color Changing HUD object when you package your creations.... and...

3. You may wish to include a copy of the text below under "For Users" as a notecard when you package your creation. Feel free to alter or add to the instructions to suit your particular creation.

That's pretty much it.

For Users:
-------------------------------------------------------------
1. To recolor an object, first, wear the HUD.

2. Touch the object that you wish to recolor. If the object has more than one prim or side, touch each side that you wish to recolor. If you change your mind about a side, just touch it again to switch it off.

3. You will see some floating text over the prim or prims that are being recolored. There will be a count-down timer ticking down. If the timer reaches zero, the active sides will be turned off, but you can always turn them right back on. As long as you are tinkering with the color, though, that timer will be reset, so don't feel pressured.

4. Use the Color Changing HUD to select your color. The multi-colored strip on the upper right is a good place to start. You can hold down your mouse button and slide your pointer up and down until you have the right hue. Then touch anywhere in the main field to pick the right shade.

You can also use the sliders under the number fields on the lower left side to input exact RGB values.

The color swatch will indicate the current color, and at the same time, all active sides of your object will shift to that color.

5. When you are confident that you have the color you are looking for, hit the "lock color" button on the lower right. This will turn off all active sides, but if you change your mind later, you can touch your object to turn them back on.

6. If you are sure you will NEVER want to change the color of your object again, hit the "Lock & Delete Color Script" button. This will make sure that you never accidentally touch your object and turn on the floating text.

Remove your HUD when you're done.

Does NOT work on Sculpty Prim
full star full star full star empty star empty star Posted October 04, 2012 by Draven Daines

The script is easy to use for regular building prims, However I bought it for sculptyit. prims and it does not work on sculpty prims. I think it should be stated in the information section of this product that it does not work for sculpty prims. If I had to know it was not going to work on sculpty prims I would not have bought
