A Bishop's mitre, from a design by A.W.N. Pugin.
Augustus Welby Northmore Pugin (1812-1852) was an English architect and designer. Best known for his work on the Palace of Westminster. A devout Roman Catholic, Pugin was a strong advocate of Gothic art and design as the only "true" Christian art form; alongside his work as an architect he also designed a considerable number of vestments, tapestries and altar frontals in the Gothic style.
This mitre is based on a design from his book "A Glossary of Ecclesiastical Ornament and Design".
