Crosswords/Words: 1-4 Players:

THIS GAME IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH ANIMESH BASED "BOT" PLAYERS. This game only recognizes client/viewer based bots, NPCs and AFK players (i.e. SmartBot, NN Staffing Bots, Radegast, Corrade, Metabolt, POR/PORT, or any other client or service used to log in "scripted agents".)

Contents:
Words: Gallery Game v2: Object is COPY/MOD/NO TRANS, Internal game scripts are COPY/NO MOD/NO TRANS
Crosswords Tournament Table: Object is COPY/MOD/NO TRANS, Internal game scripts are COPY/NO MOD/NO TRANS
Autoplay Attachment Boardgamer Bot: Wearable object (for NPCs and other scripted agents) and script is COPY/NO MOD/TRANS

The gallery version of Words uses about half the space as the Crosswords table. The Crosswords Tournament table uses a faux 3-D paper decoupage effect when the player lands on a hidden word. By request, the tournament table uses an octogon shaped table that is roughly the same dimensions as other game tournament tables so it won't look out of place in your gaming area.

How to Play:

Crosswords is a low strategy "Snakes and Ladders" style game where players race to be the first to complete a journey across the board where certain words advance the players on the board, or send them backwards.

Players move left to right (and then right to left) on alternating rows (as in a Snakes and Ladders game). Landing on the end (or the beginning) letter of a listed word will send the player to a different space on the board. Red words send the player backwards, green words allow the player to skip ahead, and yellow words will send the player either forward or backward depending on which end of the word they land on.

Green words: PLUS, SKIPPED, BETTER, ADVANCE, RISE, EARN, SEND, FORWARD
Red words: DOWN, YIELDED, RETREAT, FALLING, SINNED, SLIP, PENALTY,SIT, EXCUSES
Yellow words: ROW, LEVELED, AEON, LIEU, TIES

Instructions, along with a numbered path and the list of special words, can be conveniently found on the back of the gallery version of the game. Both games have the same letter layout for the board, the rules and play are the same.

Human Based Avatars: Pick a chair at the table, or in front of the easel, click the "die" to roll a number and move. The tournament die is separate from the gameboard, but the gallery die is incorporated into the canvas.

There is a "quiet" mode built into both games. Add "QUIET" or "Q" to the description field (but don't delete the number in the description field), Adding the letter "Q" will stop game commentary in local chat and will display the commentary above the game board. "QUIET" or "Q" should be added before anyone sits down to play.

[If you should accidentally erase the number, you can type a new number in the field (89101 is the one in the description field for Words and 89105 for Crosswords). Removing the number in the description field will spam local chat with commands meant to communicate with bot service scripts. ]

Play for bots and NPCs

NPCS, bots, scripted agents and "sleeping avatars": You'll need your NPC to wear the "Autoplay Attachment Boardgamer Bot" object BEFORE sitting. Seat your NPC on one of the cushions. The autoplay attachment will allow the NPC to play the game normally, without additional scripting. Autoplay attachments will work with ANY bot capable of being seated and wearing an attachment. If your bot can sit and wear objects, your bot is ready to play! That includes bots running on Corrade, METAbolt, Radegast; NPCs running on dedicated bot services; or AFK alts running on Android clients and even full graphics viewers.

For those scripting for bot services, the game will broadcast the UUID of the player along with words like ADVANCE and RETREAT, so they can be incorporated into the bot's chat scripting. This is the number that appears in the description field. [You can hear the commentary whispered in local chat if the number is set to 0.]

Editing the game:

Remember, if you need to edit the game, it's a really really good idea to keep an unedited copy in your inventory.

Final note:

I've tried to keep this game as menu-free and HUD-free as possible. While some elements of customization of this game may seem complicated (adding or writing scripts to accommodate NPC gameplay and providing some flexibility for adapting the game to the environment), I've tried to make everything as intuitive and simple as I can for non-scripting customers, casual players, NPCs, and occasional visitors. Words and Crosswords require low to no-strategy gameplay, it's a perfect game as a background activity for socializing, and the mechanics of the game objects should be no more complicated than the actual rules of the game.
