Before diving into this review, let me begin by saying that DFS is a brilliantly crafted and highly creative system. Over the past month, I’ve invested heavily in it, became a Patreon and found immense enjoyment in every aspect. On that level alone, it’s worth every Linden!
However, the deeper I delve into this system, the more flaws I uncover—particularly with certain items like this Mine and the Willow Tree. My advice? Avoid the Willow Tree. Period. It’s worse than a gacha. Out of nine harvest attempts, I’ve only had three successful outcomes: two small and one medium. The odds feel overwhelmingly stacked against you. While the description does warn that a failed harvest is possible, I never expected it to happen so frequently. Proceed with caution, as this feels more like a gamble than a fair farming experience.
Now the Mine comes with its own set of challenges, most notably its need to be constantly 'fed' with Mine Cart Tools—yes, feed tools to a rock! Its voracious appetite for these tools feels like an unnecessary and blatant cash grab. You’ll either need to spend an average of L$36 per mine cart from third-party vendors or craft them yourself, which requires Gator farming for hide and incurs additional costs. Without a steady supply of tools, the Mine becomes entirely useless, making it a frustrating investment. Why can't there be a pickaxe tool that wears out with use but can be repaired at the anvil...
From group chat discussions, it’s clear that these issues have left the community feeling annoyed and disheartened. Yet, as far as I’m aware, no meaningful steps have been taken to address these concerns. Perhaps in the future. Remember, no system is perfect, but I hope this review helps you make informed decisions about your purchases.
