DG1000 Glider Sailplane
by ReneMarine
Rene Underby of ReneMarine has created the DG1000 Glider sailplane. Built from scratch by Rene Underby, this is a two seater plane with a large blown canopy for good view for the pilots who both can control the plane. The instrumentation is fully functional with altimeter, variometer, airspeed and directional. The ReneMarine DG1000 is a graceful sailplane that soars among the clouds of Second Life.
Push the plane into position at the start of the runway. Sit back in the cockpit Start the retractable engine. The DG1000 gliders forward swept low positioned wings maintain altitude by gravity and thermals in every SL Sim. Effortlessly passing through the SIM Borders towards your destinations. Be careful to maintain your altitude. When you arrive lower the gear end deploy the spoilers on the wings to signal to the plane your intention to touch down.
The glider comes with a trailer that assembles your plane end disassebles it when you return with a nice animation.
- 2 seater
- Dual control
- Realistic animations, pilot push to takeoff point
- Fully animated trailer
- inflight sound effects,thermals
Annoying ban lines avoidance system.
It detects parcels fully wrong and moves glider up not leting you land in some places.
Cant disable this option though.
High Quality Glider
Both the modelling of the glider and the scripting of its behavior match the best that I have experienced in SL, of the 20+ planes I own. It is the only plane that I fly entirely in mouselook, and like another reviewer mentions, the instruments on the panel are adequate on their own without any huds. The sounds, especially the wind noise that changes with speed, add to the realism. The scripting gives handling qualities that resemble the handling qualities of gliders I have flown in RL in all major respects, subject to the unavoidable limitations of keyboard control. I have, to my surprise, come to like this plane a lot more than I expected to. It is a credit to its builder.
thank you
a great glider with nice details, i love it. one star less, because there is no towing system for cars in the trailer.
a leap forward
I had the ASK13 already and flew it around some, but the DG1000 is just perfect for me, its smoother, the engine assembled does its job properly (i was never fond of the dummy tow plane).
The best feature for me is the instrument pannel though, i stopped using the HUD alltogether and just follow my thermals using the onboard instruments, same goes for the interactive ailerons and geat controls, its just too bad the engine controls are not interactive in the cockpit, but one can´t want it all.
the trailer is a neat detail, but took me a bit to figure out where the trailer was at first.
