This hourglass works. Click it to start and the sands run from the top globe to the lower one, just like a RL hourglass. Well, almost. It's not REAL sand. Its all done with particle effect and careful use of transparency, but it looks pretty convincing. And it even tells time reasonably well. If your sim isn't lagging, it takes exactly 10 minutes for the sand to run out. (If your sim IS lagging, it may take a few seconds longer. No miracles here. This is Second Life.)

New Feature with V1.3: You can set your hourglass to run for one hour instead of running for ten minutes, if you prefer. Just select your hourglass and type the word "Hour" (without the quote marks) in its Description field. That's it. If you ever want to go back to using it as a ten-minute timer, just remove the word. Easy?

You can use it as a timer too, if you're into parlor games or boiling eggs. If you click the hourglass while it's running, it will stop and tell you the lapsed time since you started it.

The hourglass is all mesh (land impact 2). It stands 0.5m tall -- just right tor your coffee table or bookshelf. The frame has a warm cherry wood finish. It's an attractive conversation piece as well as a practical timepiece.

BTW, When you look at your Hourglass in inventory, it will say that it's No Mod. That's because of the script. You can still stretch or shrink the hourglass if you like.
