Dex's Cyclorama Backdrop

This is a low prim, high functionality working photostudio. Everything you need to work as an SL photographer is here. All you need is your own poses and pose stands and you're ready to go.

The megaprim studios available for purchase at the cost of thousands of Linden are only really for snapshots. If you are interested in taking photos that you process offline in GIMP, Photoshop, Paintshop or Elements, all you need is a blank background and a few light sourcing objects.

The photostudio kit contains four pieces:

4. Photoflood Light

CYCLORAMA

The cyclorama is a simple, two prim background that allows you to change textures. It comes with a variety of textures and you can add your own. The basic background colors of black, white and middle gray are included along with the standard selection of chroma key colors. Just touch the cyc background or floor to change the texture. You can cycle through the textures or skip ahead or back five at a time. There is also a feature to rotate the textures on a timer if you wish to use it as a slide show! There are two menus, one for the background and one for the floor.

CAMERA

The antique camera has a pose ball that puts you into a photographer's pose. If you click the camera box itself, it will make a camera click!

CAMERA CONTROL HUD

Right click on the camera control HUD and select WEAR. This will place the HUD on the upper right of your screen as a default. You can place it in any location on your screen you wish. Click the camera icon and it will turn red and center your camera and allow you to use your arrow keys to move your "viewfinder" around. Hold ALT and CTRL for pan effects. You can still zoom cam (ALT left click and drag) around your subjects but pushing any arrow key will center your screen again. Click the HUD again to turn it off. If your screen doesn't center when you click the HUD it is because you probably had your local chat open. Just hit an arrow key and it will center for you.

PHOTOFLOOD LIGHT

Activate the photoflood light's menu by touching it. On the menu select ON/OFF to turn the light on or off. The other settings are for changing the color of the light, the parameters of the light itself (radius, intensity, falloff) and the brightness, transparency (alpha) and color of the light's prim.

I like to change the color of the prim to match the color I have set for the light so I can tell what color the light will be when I turn it on. Most of the time it is white, but when you've forgotten to change it from red, you can tell at a glance even when the light is off. These effects are more apparent when you force the Midnight setting (World -> Environment Settings -> Midnight). Store will save the present settings so when you take it into inventory and set it out again, the settings will remain.
