'Discretion' is a unique script developed to protect your creative interests, specifically to protect your artworks or indeed any object(s) you have made from being accessed, used, or diplayed beyond a certain date - except within the limits you specify.

This scripting system is designed to safeguard your creative works by placing a flexible expiry time on the works existence. It works and it's completely foolproof.

Here are three example situations in which you might want to use Discretion; you can probably think of many more.

1. You loan an artwork to someone to display on their land. They decide they don't want to give it back, and ban you from the sim or the parcel. You cannot get access or get back to collect your property.

2. You have created a demo product and want to release it as a taster, but want to withdraw it after a trial period to encourage people to buy the fuller featured product.

3. You have given your visitors a wonderful gift in the hope that they will return to your location at regular intervals (e.g. to be made aware of new creations).

In each situation, using 'Discretion' solves the issue, as follows:

1 (above). With 'Discretion' in place your artwork will erase it's own existence after a specified loan period. Yes, you can extend this if subsequently desired - you can configure it to take a password from you or a trusted friend on a hidden channel, causing it's life to be extended for more days or weeks as you choose, otherwise it will expire on schedule and there is nothing the current custodian can do to prevent it.

2. (above) By placing 'Discretion' inside your sample goods and setting a trial period, the object will simply cease to exist when rezzed, once the trial period is up.

3. (above) You can place 'Discretion' inside your give away creation and let your visitor know that it will continue to exist indefinitely as long as they return to have it 'renewed' at regular intervals. Rather like a library book (but far more glamorous!).

The Discretion script is fully copy enabled so can be used over and over again - you have a lifetime of protection in one simple resource.

Any questions, please IM Frankie Rockett.

Footnote.
The idea behind the script has it's roots in programmer/employer tactics of the 1960s and 70s. Programmers getting fired from their jobs would, in some infamous instances, leave a 'logic bomb' behind tem that would do untold damage after they terminated their period of notice. Emplyers responded by changing contracts of employees - no period of notice. The day you were fired you were stopped at the gate and told and not admitted to the building. The next step in this cat and mouse game was for programmers to create logic bombs that remained passive as long as their creator was in post to feed them a regular 'stay dormant' code. Conceptually, 'Discretion' has it's origins to those early complex logic bombs.

Cannot be used for a DEMO it GIFTED item as stated !

Though this would be perfect if it functioned as listed, the script is "COPY / NO MOD / NO TRANSFER" so it cannot be used in any item you want to demo or gift to others as the item then becomes NO TRANSFER.

Works great if you want it only for your own items, but why would you want to limit your own items in this way?

I give it 1 star for the sellers customer service, he offered to replace with 25 copies of the script in "No Copy / Transfer" or refund the purchase price, however "COULD NOT / WOULD NOT" provide the script as "COPY / TRANSFER" so that it would function as listed.

Listing needs updated.
