This mesh dice tray set is meant to allow people to use it in various ways and play various games. It rolls up to 8 (6 sided dice), it is unrigged mesh and chats out the result as well as displaying it on the mesh. The rolls can either be public or hidden under the cup to allow for playing games with secret rolls.
There are demos rezzed in the in-world store to be tried out if you like.
I was originally going to script it as a set for playing a specific game, but I realized that there are so many different games and so many variant rules (many of which are easy to find online, just Google "Dice Games"!) that I should just make some dice that work and let people figure out what games they want to play on their own.
Here are the options and how they work:
********************Dice Tray Instructions***********************
::::Dice Menu::::
Touching the actual tray/cup will bring up the dice menu (assuming the person doing so has access permission to use it).
Roll: Rolls the dice normally. The dice are displayed on the tray and the roll is chatted out for everyone to see. Touching again at this point will bring up new options:
Chat Roll, which repeats the roll in chat, or
Reset, which puts the dice back in the cup for the next roll.
Hidden Roll: Rolls the dice but only chats the roll to the person who rolled it. The dice on the tray are hidden under the cup. Rolling this way and then touching again brings up slightly different menu options than a regular roll:
Peek: repeats the roll only to the person who rolled it.
Reveal: takes the cup off and shows the roll to everyone, sending it to public chat. Once you "reveal" the roll, it will bring up the same menu as a regular roll when touched again.
Reset: resets the roll *without* revealing it to the group.
Change#Dice: Allows you to change the number of dice to be rolled every roll. You can roll from 1-8 dice with this set.
::::Owner Menu::::
To access the owner menu, touch the shadow/ground under or slightly beside the tray!
(Make sure the shadow isn't hidden under the surface the tray is sitting on)
Options available in the Owner Menu:
Chat Distance: You can use this to set whether the chat generated by the tray will be Whisper (around 10 m range) or Say (around 20 m range) depending on how far apart people playing are sitting. Whisper is probably good enough unless you are sitting quite far apart.
Cleanup Time: This allows you to set the time that the dice will take between resetting the roll if the person who rolled doesn't touch it again. This is just so that the board doesn't get stuck waiting for the dice to be revealed on a hidden roll or put back during a regular roll. I recommend leaving it on the default of 5 minutes unless you are doing some heavy para RP or something that needs a lot of time in between rolls.
Access: Allows you to set whether the dice can be used by the Owner only, the Group that the tray is rezzed under (they will have to wear the group tag) or by everyone (Public).
