Dynamic Quicksand (DQ) is a fully customizable enviromental feature. From being used as a trap, an interactive decoration or being a simple addition to your land, this easy to setup contraption offers a wide array of options to suit your needs. For example: You're able to make a little mud hole that's barely knee-deep, or a dangerous swamp that's difficult to step out of - or you can even make a relaxing mud bath!
Some of the important features of this object:
- No RLV required. This trap works even without the use of the Restrained Life Viewer - there are no additional setups for your viewer needed.
- Easy to setup. No great knowledge is required - merely being able to find a pit or make an own one, such as terraforming land.
- Great amount of parameters to change. With a total of 20 parameters to choose from and customize, practically any kind of quicksand / mud pit can be made.
- Optional possibility to Struggle and Rescue. While the victim can always attempt to jump or fly out of the pit, it's also possible to add additional Struggling, enabling the victim to slowly rise up from the pit - or fall back and sink deeper. Additionally, other people around can try to save the person from the trap. Depending on the parameters, this can either be an easy achievement or even potentially dangerous to the rescuer.
- Ability to add own, unique scripts and features. DQ allows the use of additional scripts. LSL knowledge is required for this.
- GetUpdate. Accidently broke your DQ? Or is there a new update to it? Attach the included "GetUpdate" and receive a new version of DQ - or a working one of the current version.
Requires land with rezzing permission, with more than 5 free prim.

Works, but with some serious caveats
As far as configuration and editability, that's very easy and user-friendly. However, while the instructions warn that the system can't push someone through Linden Ground, it declines to cover the fact it can't push through *anything* physical, not just the Linden Ground collision layer. Attempting to rez this on a mesh object that is not phantom will not allow the victim to be pushed into the mesh, which made it useless inside of a mesh cavern that has a ideal mud pit for this. I recommend the product, but this omission made this item a bit pricey for it to be unusable on a mesh surface.
The Rescue Teleport teleports me above the pit
This is a great product, but I can't figure out how to use the teleporter. It always teleports me above the pit and it's annoying. Also I'm having trouble editing the suction, because everytime I edit the color and texture of the suction, it always goes back to its default texture and color. Am I doing something wrong?
its great!... IF I COULD PLACE IT
uhg, it tells me to place the stuff, but it says "no transfer" and so i cant!
Not perfect, but close to it.
Short version:
Decently easy to set up and work with. Provides enough utility by itself, such as teleporting out of it and RP text if desired. Might require animations on your own part to get the full experience. Rarely experiencing any trouble with it. Creator listens to feedback.
Long version:
This Quicksand trap can pretty much be placed anywhere to enhance any place that features muddy, swampy or sinky places. This isn't limited to your regular forest or desert; your imagination is the only limit. Want to have sewers which are difficult to slog through? How about a pit of chocolate to your liking? While this requires patience to understand the different parameters and how to set them to have your pit working the way you want, this is a small price to pay.
Very basic knowledge about landforming is needed; any pit in a sim qualifies for this, regardless if done via landforming or Mesh, giving any pit the exact depth you want. Some Textures are provided; you may require further textures to make it look the way you want. Same applies to sounds. It's definitely highly customizable - and that's a huge strength.
Due to its nature, walking through such a pit makes the walking animation look stiff - use a higher priority animation on your part to counteract this. And that's the biggest gripe I can think of: You more or less are required to have your own animations, since it doesn't come with animations of its own. Otherwise, you may miss out on the sinking experience.
You may have hiccups when sinking or trying to escape, but this is incredibly rare. Over the time, the stability has been severely increased - props to the creator to target any bugs and crush them.
If I had to express any wishes to this, it'd probably the ability to eventually hug someone in this (the nature of this pit makes it fairly impossible), and the fact that only a flat surface is going to work correctly. These are just nitpicks, however - otherwise, this is well worth the money.
Satisfied Customer
Was buying this because I was on a budget, and am very happy I did.
It takes a little bit of setting up... though thankfully, the notecard is well documented, and any questions were quickly answered when I asked the seller. If I was any good at all at editing objects, it wouldn't have been any trouble at all; even for me, it wasn't too tricky, just gotta read the directions. However, the reason for all this set up is because of the flexibility... there's even an included box that has all the items you need to make it a dry sand pit, if that it your preference.
The sheer customization options of this product, along with it functioning as or better than expected for most sinking, have been well worth the price and then some. There are no included animations, but the flip side of that is that you can use any animations you want during sinking... it's up to your imagination. In many ways, that's the greatest strength of this product - the more you're willing to do with it, the more you'll get out of it.
There are minor, unavoidable hiccups with some things - if the sand had almost got you immobile, walking animations might get stuttered, for example - but it's not very noticeable most of the time and doesn't significantly detract from the overall experience. In general, it appears to be more because SL doesn't know how to do half-a-step than anything else...
With some work, I have personally used versions of this pit that were mud, wet sand, dry sand, silky grains of near magical sand, and even chocolate... and the physics could handle any of those with minor changes to how you want them to act. Easily worth every L$ I spent. Look forward to future updates, which can only make it even better.
Its.. ok
tl;dr
It is quicksand on the cheap.
The good:
Its cheap, and has some options I added to Toy's quicksand for my use built in.
The bad:
The special set up with two in the same region is quirky and could probably be avoided.
No special animations for the pit, none that I could see at least. And was a little jerky with my AO's animations while moving. Start, stop, start, stop....
After reset, the messages could be sent to the owner instead of as set text over head.
And physics. Sometimes strange things happen because SL Physics. Like jumping when barely in the pit likes to launch upward.
