Edo Town Lodging House - Tiles
In Japanese tradition a lodging house or Ochaya, chashitsu can refer to a structure designed for holding Japanese tea ceremonies. Tea rooms for tea ceremonies, whether they comprise an independent structure or one room within a larger architectural structure, are also called chashitsu in Japanese. The architectural space called chashitsu was created for aesthetic and intellectual fulfillment. In Japan a tea house can also refer to a place of entertainment with geisha, the most notable of which is the Ichiriki Ochaya. These kind of tea houses are typically very exclusive establishments. The tea house is perfect for roleplay environments.
All Edo Town buildings and structures are based on architecture to be found around the Kansai region in Japan. The Kansai region lies in the southern-central region of Japan's main island Honshu. The region includes the prefectures of Nara, Wakayama, Kyoto and Shiga. Sometimes Fukui, Tokushima and Mie are also included. While the use of the terms "Kansai" has changed over history, in most contexts the two can be considered the same. The Kansai region is the cultural and historical heart of Japan with 11% of its land area. The area also contains six of the seven top prefectures.
The Kansai region lays claim to the earliest beginnings of Japanese civilization. It was Nara, the most eastern point on the Silk Road, that became the site of Japan's first permanent capital. This period (AD 710-784) saw the spread of Buddhism to Japan in 745. The Kansai region also boasts the Shinto religion's holiest shrine at Ise Shrine (built in 690 AD) in Mie prefecture. The town Hosoi Mura lies in the Japan Kansai sim and is probably the best Japanese Edo period sim in Second Life. Visit the Town to pick up inspiration to start building your own scenery with the wonderful collection of building elements.
