The AC-556 is essentially Ruger's attempt to make the police and civilian Mini-14 more acceptable to the military market; it is little more than a Mini-14 with the ability to fire semiautomatic and fully automatic. There is also a carbine version of the AC-556 called the AC-556K, that unlike the regular version which uses the same traditional rifle stock and furniture as the civilian and police versions, has a pistol grip and folding metal stock as well as a shorter barrel. Both models of the AC-556 could take an accessory adapter to accept standard STANAG-NATO style M16 magazines, making the weapon more NATO friendly and a plus in the arms market; this however did not mean much to potential buyers and neither model were very successfully sold. Most examples today are either in museums, owned by civilian collectors, or part of police armories. The only nations to purchase and use the AC-556 seem to be Bermuda, the UK, and the United States; all for police use except Bermuda of which the AC-556 and Mini-14 are their primary infantry rifles.

Melee: press a and d or left and right
*Note: this must be done very quickly, both keys pressed at the same time, effective range for melee is approximately 3 meters.

Firing: To fire the gun, simply enter mouse view mode and left mouse click. Holding down in automatic will fire until the left mouse button is released, semi automatic will fire once per mouse click.
