In the real world, one of the many reasons aquariums are popular is the sense of peace they convey, often perhaps the only oasis of calm in very stressful environments. Gracefully gliding thru the clear water, the fish can bring a sense of relaxation. The quiet sound of the bubbles gently burbling adds to the overall tranquilty of the experience...
We have all seen aquariums in Second Life. We've seen prim fish, that make for high prim installations, constantly turning spin scripts that make the fish "migrate" out of your fish tank to a neighboring parcel. Cartoon like drawings of fish that have none of the grace and smooth movement of a real fish. Well, the builders and scripters at Temporal Gadgets felt they could do better, and we have done it again!! Using a combination of macro photography, building techniques and low-lag scripts, we have created a low-prim aquarium with life-like visual and auditory appeal.
We don't use prim fish, instead we chose a combination of textures and prim surface manipulation so that when our fish swim, their fins gently ripple, their bodies undulating to mimic a real life fish. The overall effect is, in our opinion, unlike any other aquarium in Second Life.
Add to that the high resolution backdrops, the touch-to-toggle bubbling water sound (just touch the aquarium's frame), and the fact that it is a space-saving WALL aquarium, and you have what is truly the most beautiful aquarium in Second Life.
To set up the aquarium could not be simpler, just rez the box it is packed in, open it so that the aquarium is put in your inventory, then rez the aquarium from your inventory to the wall. Make sure you can see moving fish, if you can't...your aquarium is turned "face to the wall"...turn it around 180 degrees. ENJOY!
