A pair of Empire style chenets made in matt gilt bronze.
Decorated with a large military helmet of the legion of honour resting on tied fascias, and a trophy with a garland of flowers on the front, all on a pedestal with a bas-relief with bees and a central rosette.
Purchased for the decoration of the Château de Malmaison, bought by the Empress in 1799, and decorated in the latest fashion “au nouveau gout” in the following years.
Includes a version of the firedogs, with and without the iron brackets and fireplace logs, that can be lightened up at a click.
