A pair of firedogs in Ormolu gilt bronze decorated with bas-reliefs of dancing lovelies, pearls, laurel leaves and a smoking athienne. Designed by Pierre Gouthiere, who in 1771 delivered to Madame la Comtesse du barry two pairs of these chimney andirons for the decoration of the main salon of the music pavilion at Louvenciennes.
It is recorded that among the many designs shown to the Countess for her approval, this was the one that was "to Madame's taste".
Includes a version of the firedogs, with and without the iron brackets and fireplace logs, that can be lightened up at a click.
