Elves are immortal in the sense that they stop aging once they're fully mature and don't die of old age. They don't die of illness. they cannot regrow body parts, and they can be killed by injuries to vital organs. They are susceptible to poison. They can drown and can freeze or burn to death. They can recover from injuries that would kill a Mortal. this to the strength of the bond between their bodies and their spirits,

Elves are not invulnerable, however. They can also die of grief, and can suffer a broken heart so severe that their spirits abandon their bodies.

When the time comes a last of rites is giving to see them off to the undying lands.
