A Chinese export parcel-gilt lacquer bureau bookcase cabinet.

Made up of two divisible bodies, a desk and a shelve on top, this type of cabinets were designed specifically for export to Europe, and therefore the reason for having a western shape (in particular British) even being produced by Chinese artisans in the first half of the 18th century.

The doors open to reveal the boxes and spaces reserved for the organization of the papers, all covered in a matching rich decoration in gold and lacquer Chinese figures a river, and mountains that covers the entire piece.
