Designed by Pierre Lartigue and produced by Louis Florimont Lennel, this globe was commissioned by King Louis XVI in 1778 to furnish his precious library in the Palace of Versailles.
It consists of an Atlantean in patinated papier-mâché imitating bronze, holding a globe.
