It is materials enabled, and looks its best when you enable advanced lighting (and have some kind of lighting source or face light in world)! Check the images to see where you can find this advanced lighting setting in firestorm.
Enabling advanced lighting will allow the top to reflect light from your environment. Listing shows pictures of the top with both advanced lighting on and off.
