My goal was to create infused G&S grain fields for my farm in Tharna Woods which could cover a very large area, at a lower Land Impact than standard G&S fields, and look as realistic as I could get them.

To get this realism I used a new SL procedure for applying alpha textures, texture where parts are transparent and parts aren’t. This procedure is called alpha masking. It differs from the normal alpha rendering in that the server calculates what is solid and what isn’t, and portrays only the solid. Therefore there is no glitching, and no fuzzy textures. (See Alpha Masking vs Alpha Rending picture. Both those fields use the same texture.)

However, to use alpha masking, an alpha texture needs to be extremely clear, with no fuzzy borders between solid and transparent. I had to design my own textures. Normal alpha textures would not work.

The result is a harvest ready grain field, when walking through it, you can almost smell the grain. At Tharna Woods Farm, I have combined 126 16x16m infused Grain Fields into huge fields that cover almost a half Sim. Come take a look.

While I made these for myself to be infused, these I sell are not. They are unscripted. If you want infused, contact me in-world. The infusing procedure is very simple.

For you to be able to resell once infused, I have kept the fields Modify, No Copy, and Transfer.

Each grain field comes with a ground prim unlinked. Linking of the ground prim to grain field does not decrease land impact. Linking of multiple grain fields to 1 ground prim will cause the G&S scripts to glitch.

Also, in making my mega-fields I used only ground prims sized to 64x64m, and thus used very few. Depending on how you setup your fields, you may not need all ground prims.

Due to the alpha masking, and no matter their size, each sculptured grain field has a Land Impact of 2 LI.

Ground sculptured prims each have a Land Impact of 1 LI. Resizing does not change this.

Q: Why aren’t these already infused if they were made to be infused?

A: I cannot control how Sombra does his updates. As of 02/08/2016 there are over 1,000 of my items having been infused. What “could happen” at an update “if I did the infusing” is I would get all the updates (as the original buyer), and not you the customer. Neither of us wants that to happen.
