Grand Antichambre - Ostrich egg Vase

The ostrich eggs placed in decorative frames were very popular in 18th century France. This one was placed in "Goût Grec" style framing with garlands of flowers and goat heads. The vase was part of "anciennes collections de la Couronne" (Crown collection), where it was placed in the Petit Trianon in 19th century.
