A large French parterre in ‘broderie’ made in boxwood in whimsical grass shapes, on a background of gravel.
A copy of the design made for the great French garden of the Château de Villacerf in the 18th century.
This type of parterre, called ‘en broderie’ for its intricate and delicate sinuous forms imitating textile embroidery, was gradually replaced by simpler examples, called ‘a l'angloise’ because of the introduction of simpler forms and lawns, much less laborious than boxwood.
But the great residences retained some of them, as examples of the great formal gardening ‘à la française’, as can be seen in palaces such as Versailles, with its parterre of flowers, or du Midi.
Composed of 4 portions, symmetrical, each measuring 27 meters in length, making a total of 60 meters in all, although the parterre can be divided and re-scaled.
The texture of the gravel used as a ground is included.
Each one of the portions is 7LI
Grandiose
Unique and special
This is special and unique to all other things possible in SL gardens ! Brilliantly made and I love it ! A+ Recommended !
