The corno ducale, better known as the Doge's hat, is a famous symbol of Venice. It harkens back to the Phrygian cap, though with much more elaborate fabrics and rich decorations. The linen cap worn underneath is called a camauro.
With the camauro toggled off and the hat perched atop an elegant hairstyle, it does dual duty as a headpiece fit for the Dogaressa!
