The Conestoga Light Transport was in service to the Imperium for centuries. It was used as a general-workhorse transport vessel, analogous to the venerable C-47 Dakota prop-driven aircraft of WW2 fame. Simple, rugged, durable and easy to maintain, the Conestoga served admirably in ever theater of operations the Imperium participated in. Modifications to the basic hull produced troopships, prime-mover lift platforms, mobile command posts, and even the occasional gunship.
Advances in technology made the Conestoga obsolete, and seeing the huge potential of such a dependable platform, we snapped up as many as we could. With some modification, the old warhorses were converted into civilian trim, and the Ducat Merchant Cruiser was born!
The DMC is designed for the Captain on a budget, but who needs a dependable vessel to carry out his or her business. To this end, we have striven to make the DMC as versatile as possible.
With plenty of room to work with, an enterprising Captain can easily modify the vessel to serve whatever purpose his fleet requires, be it a cargo hauler, a luxury liner, or a pleasure yacht. Mercenary outfits can convert the DMC to a troopship, fleet tender, or any other paramilitary use they desire. The concept of the 'tramp steamer' is alive and well with the introduction of the Ducat Merchant Cruiser!

A fine ship. Spacious, homely, fun to play with. Somehow the ship has an undefinable x-factor that makes it superior to anything similar. It's got everything you could want, weapons lockers, an observation deck, a small hanger, four private rooms and custom furnishings for them, two large decks and a dramatic control room. Admittedly I would have liked to be able to rez the thing as a tardis expansion, though the built in receiver is good too. Security on the exterior doors would have been nice, though it doesn't in any way prevent you from adding your own. A brilliant and fun ship that's perfect for any sci fi fan.
