========================================

The matchlock appeared in Europe in the mid-15th century, with the idea of a serpentine (the device used to lower the burning match into the flash pan) appearing in an Austrian manuscript. The first dated illustration of a matchlock mechanism dates to 1475 (making it the first firearm with a trigger) and by the 16th century they were universally used. During this time the latest tactic in using the matchlock was to line up and send off a volley of musket balls at the enemy. This volley would be much more effective than single soldiers trying to hit individual targets.

Despite the appearance of more advanced ignition systems, such as that of the wheellock and the snaphance, the low cost of production, simplicity, and high availability of the matchlock kept it in use in European armies until about 1720. It was eventually completely replaced by the flintlock as the foot soldier's main armament.

========================================

The Highland Armories production of this piece acts as a muzzle-loader, like the original, thereby requiring a lengthy reload after every shot. It incorporates a plug bayonet, which disables firing in favor of a lunging attack. The sling animates your hand up to hold it in place while not in use, and a functional bayonet sheath, as well as a musketeer's bandolier, is included.

Your Highland Armories weapon is scripted from scratch to be as efficient as possible, generating absolutely minimal lag, while being able to function properly in high-lag situations. It includes a full set of custom animations, sounds, and particle effects.

/81sling - Slings the weapon
/81draw - Draws the weapon
/81r - Reloads the weapon
/81melee - Toggles melee mode, which disables firing and performing a bayonet lunge instead
/81help - Displays these commands

Gorgeous but cumbersome

It is well detailed and offers a lot of diff. combat systems, but between the inability to see myself during firing anims and how it doesn't fit right to a Maitreya Lara body, I can't really recommend this as-is. Maybe with an option to re-size or reposition for different bodies?

Worth the price, but could be better

The musket is wonderfully animated, it's got awesome and accurate sounds and effects, and even has a resizer. However, if you're using a female avatar it might not fit into your shape.
Take that one last thing as a consideration if you plan on buying this for yourself, else it's a wonderful weapon.

This Is probbly one of the best matchlocks on the SL MP not just look wise but script wise too. though the animations and holding are a bit off thats neglagible cause of my av size and what not, That aside the animations and the fact that it comes with a cute and deadly bayonet plug is historicaly accurate for a rifle of this design and it adds another knife to my belt. Over all 10/10

The weapon is beautiful, it comes with a great bandoleer and a bayonet, however, after a few uses it did the same thing as the India pattern Musket. The holding animation is way off and wrong, and each time I attempt to manually move it, it resets. a beautiful weapon, beautiful sound and effects, but the holding animation kinda kills it for me.
