Lavishly decorated, this elegant set of furniture was commanded by the merchant-Mercier Darnault and made by Jean -Baptiste Tillard in 1778 for the furnishings of the Parisian mansion of the Comte de Gamaches.
Following the custom in the great aristocratic houses, two versions were offered for the furniture, for the summer, a light and fresh delicate silk upholstery, which was replaced for the winters by a warmer silk velvet fabric, more in keeping with the season.
The set comprises 6 pieces, with two different version (silk lampas, and velvet)
