Harpa

Harpa is Iceland's beautiful National Opera House. Its name means harp, and its modern look provides a glittering backdrop to the Reykjavík harbour, rather much like the Sydney Opera house does in Australia. The building was initially funded by the Icelandic Banks, but the crash of 2008 meant that the Government were required to pick up the bill and thankfully they did because it looks great (even if it does take a while to appreciate fully). The dark windows aren't because of lights in the windows not working, its because they shine in turn for a short period of time, the number of lights turned on at any one time is more like the number turned off in this photo. Sometimes having a long exposure can be a disadvantage in a photo...
