Why would you want this thing? Or better yet, why did I build it?

Well I'll answer why I wanted it and I why I built it. I have a region with a harbor where I have several sailboats moored. That was quite nice but I realized that something is missing. There was no movement of the boats. They were planted in one place for all time. So, I had to correct that. I wanted a mooring system that would allow the boats to pivot around their mooring point and alway keep them facing into the wind. I had become consious of the wind from the windmills that I had scattered about. (Another project for energy conservation in SL was creating windmills... but that's another story.)

With the Anchor Pivot, you can take a copy of your boat, a copy of the mooring prims, and the pivot object and link them into a moored boat that react to the changes on SL wind.

What do you need to use it?

First you need a place to moor a boat and have enough "swing room" for it to rotate around its mooring. After that, you need a boat that has copy/modify privledges and, optionally, mooring prims that come with the boat. they also need to be modifiable. You should also not be afraid to edit (move, rotate, resize) objects or link them. There is an illustrated instruction manual included that takes you through the required steps and honestly, its not that hard.

Also, I've include mooring ropes and a mooring buoy of my design if you don't have mooring prims with your boat or just want soemthing different.

Where can I see it in action?

Come on over to my store in Quaker Park and there are two Trucordias and a Sea Sharp in the bay.

Will you answer questions about it or do you have something simpler?

Of course I'll answer questions and yes there is also a Pivot Buoy available that uses a simplified script with my set of mooring prims and ropes. It is intended for owners of boats that were not supplied with moorings. The main difference is that it doesn't have the extra pivot prims and a requires a little less set up. The downside is that it is not quite as adjustable for where your actual "mooring point" is located. The Pivot Buoy is designed to have the boat pivot around the buoy, Anchor Pivot is designed to be a bit more realistic and pivot around the location of an anchor in front of the buoy in front of the boat.

There are only two scripted prims for the pivot. But also in the box are the "extras" of the ropes and a non-scripted buoy if needed. And, a "high quality, fully illustrated" instruction manual!
