Who says castles have to be dark and musty? Not us!
Realism has its limits: don’t settle for a dark castle with stained walls! The InkWelle Castle uses light textures and modern interiors. And with 10-meter high ceilings, it’s easy for you to use your camera and move around and use the stairs. Uses COMPLETELY tested Megaprims to keep the prim-count low. Most castles this size have 700+ prims, and some have well over 1000. This castle has only 362 prims, plus another 17 for a dungeon.
The InkWelle Castle is the castle for your SL life. While most SL castles are dark and heavy, the InkWelle Castle is light and cheery. To keep the prim count down, this castle is constructed using Megaprims*. With 10-meter ceilings to allow plenty of room to use your camera, TP-only access to tower turrets with 330-degree views, terraces, and a large roof surface perfect for a rooftop garden, sales kiosks, or a dance floor. Includes a secret room under one of the stairs with a concealed click-to-open door in the wall. In the room is a trap door that leads to the optional dungeon. The Blue roof textures are actually gray -- so you can easily change the color by using the SL color-pick tool.
Footprint: about 80x60 meters
Height: about 70m high including pennants (not including Dungeon)
Prims: Castle=362, Teleporters=4, Optional Lace curtains=15, Optional Dungeon=17
Assembly:
This InkWelle Castle is packaged using Rez-Faux which will auto-build it for you. Rez the Rezzer with the red dot facing just in front of where you want your castle to be, (right up to where the front steps will be), then click it and choose "Rez." Remember that this is a very big building -- so be sure you are not to close to your region border have at least 65 meters in front of the box and 45 meters to its left and right). See the notecard "Setup Instructions For InkWelle Builds" for detailed instructions.
The lace curtains and dungeon are extra, optional items that are included but are not part of the build so you choose to add them or not. Note that if you use the supplied dungeon, it is designed to be completely underground and align beneath the right-back end of the castle. The ramp in the dungeon should align with the opening of the trapdoor in the castle.
Scripts:
The doors are scripted to lock and have other features as well. Open the door, then say "show help" for a list of commands, including how to lock the door and maintain a list of people who can open the door. This is an excellent free script, but you can replace it with your own door script if you choose. See the notecard "InkWelle Door Instructions" for details.
Controllers on the walls control the window tinting and also the transparency of the roof atrium. The teleporters use a "relative position" script so if you move them to a different position in your castle, you will need to add new coordinates. If you plan to use them elsewhere, you may want to consider using a different teleport system.
About Megaprims:
* The truth about megaprims is that while they do make more work for sim servers, it is only by a very small amount and in most cases is negligible. In fact, in some cases sim performance can be IMPROVED by replacing many small prims with a single Megaprim. The Megaprims we use are all only 40meters or smaller. We use modern megaprims made by Becky Pippen for this and other products, and have extensively tested them on Full and HomeStead sims at various elevations with no problems.
