Insanity Incorporated PrisonCam System
Part of the Ins Inc Surveillance Series
The PrisonCam System is a modular surveillance network for Second Life that delivers a complete, interactive monitoring experience. Every component communicates across the region without linking or sensors, offering reliable control, camera motion, and maintenance simulation. Designed for prisons, bases, or roleplay facilities, it provides realistic automation and user interaction with a touch of dark humor.
Included Components
Station (two styles) – Control beacon that defines active range, allowed sectors, and difficulty settings for disable and repair. Multiple stations can operate at once for different sectors.
Camera Unit – Animated pan and tilt camera that announces its sector, number, name, and status. When damaged, it switches to Offline and emits ember effects until repaired.
Repair Tool – Works within 3 meters to restore Offline cameras. Without it, clicks disable cameras instead, adding risk to maintenance actions.
Operator HUD – Five-script modular interface that lists cameras by sector, allows panning and tilting, and switches automatically to a fallback view when feeds fail.
Deadzone Unit – A static-filled orb that appears when viewing an Offline camera feed, providing a realistic “signal lost” effect.
Developer Scripts – Optional modules for creators who want to build compatible accessories or control devices.
Operation Summary
Stations broadcast configuration data and range information. Cameras advertise themselves automatically. The HUD scans, organizes, and displays all cameras detected near a Station, while the Repair Tool and Deadzone handle interaction and fallback.
Clicking a camera without the tool disables it. Clicking with the tool within range repairs it after the required number of clicks. Difficulty and interaction limits are set by the Station’s cfg notecard. All communication uses lightweight JSON messages on region channels, ensuring low lag and full reliability.
