The Interfone is a device that allows cross-world communications - short text messages (not unlike SMS / text messages on your cell phone) that are delivered to other Interfone users - no matter *where* they are. They may be in SecondLife, or Inworlz, or OSGrid... or other grids that allow outbound communications. For a complete list of supported grids, please see the Interfone website - we're growing almost weekly.
So, if you live in Inworldz for example, and you have a friend who lives in SecondLife - or if you have a shop there and customers who need to contact you - you can use Interfone to communicate with them!
Messages can be up to 1040 characters long, and are stored on a secure and reliable server until the recipient logs in.
Also, you can use Interfone if you're a world-hopper - with accounts in several grids. Wherever you log in, whatever name you have in other grids: you can be reached under the same Interfone number!
This is the Interfone Starter Pack for SecondLife and contains your Interfone HUD, basic phone cover and basic ringtones as well as the registration terminal. If you already own an Interfone number (set up in another grid), adding your SecondLife account details to this number is free of charge. If this is the first time you sign up to Interfone, registration is 499 L$ payable during the registration process. This product is also available in Inworldz so you can add your IW account for free.
