Needs work
full star full star full star empty star empty star Posted November 20, 2024 by Viviana Igaly

This is a very nice idea, it could be a great product, but it needs work. Good: The grass textures are OK and will allow it to be integrated into most outdoor environments. The fireflies are quite detailed and somewhat realistic in appearance. Bad: The spawner grass, which is in my opinion the main product here, is super unreliable. It very often fails to clear spawned fireflies, which is a problem as you will be left with very small wandering objects that will remain even if you delete the grass. Any object that rezzes additional objects absolutely needs to make sure that no unwanted objects are left behind. Another issue is that newly spawned fireflies often fail to start moving. They're kind of stuck in the grass forever. This is not an issue with other objects interfering, this problem occurs even when the grass is rezzed in empty space. Lastly, there's something in the design that could be so much better. As it is now, you can click on the grass and spawn a firefly, which will then be there, very close to the grass, forever, 24/7. Obviously, this is not how fireflies actually occur. This product would be so much better if the grass would spawn fireflies randomnly on its own which would then wander off and disappear after a couple of minutes. To make it perfect, let the grass observe the time of day so that fireflies are only spawned at night. This would be so easy to implement and would imrpove the product a lot. As it is now, I would not buy it again and I won't use it.
